Antasari Azhar, from Hero to Zero?

Antasari: "I will fight justice until the end.I did not commit murder"

Antasari still locked up in prison without the truth clarity of law in Indonesia. Antasari had filed new evidence of innocence. But all that pass like the wind and disappeared.

flashback to how and what happened with Antasari, referring to writing of Maretha Tri Utami (division of Law); Welly Anggara (division of English Club); M. Reza Firdausi (division of News Letter).

A stunning issue which has been very hot happened this latest months, competes the newest cases such as Susno Duadji’s case, Bibit Chandra’s case, high living rate jail of “Ayi”the mother of Police Department and Judiciary conspiracy, terrorism acts to kill present Indonesian President, Malaysia-Indonesia heat and so on. The Antashari which take long way of court procedures until now. It’s been way far since months ago stroke the justice situation in Indonesia, and now still goes on, especially the reveal of the truth of the case. The case that hits the former KPK director Antashari Azhari is really unbelievable, now the corruptors’ hunter has been a suspected.

It is right we have known him and KPK which he ruled is at the front line of the war against corruption so that really makes institutions, agencies and individuals who have been robbing this nation wealth will not always feeling safe and peace. But for us to know, when we carry actions for good, surely that all around us will appear enemies who then unite to demolish the truth.

The existence of KPK is really needed to take corruptions into court since this problem will be visually seen to be dragging KPK which was before a place for Antashari to lead, means there will be negative and sarcastic sounds about this institution existence. Beside that this can be also a study for us that the destruction of someone is really close to three things; throne or crown, wealth, and women. And we surely all realize that.

The enemy of truth will always using all ways to get everybody who supports the truth to go down. Hopefully the society can be aware to safe the existence of KPK from actions to break KPK down. Hopefully the justice can be built, but if this is only a conspiracy hopefully it will be then break opened so then a name will go down because of it.

The police department and the judiciary institute must be quick to overcome this case. Yes we hope “this certain woman” will appear because at least this woman’s confession will be the key to open the case which is actually the case of the killing of Mr. Nasrudin which involves Antashari Azhar, because it can be said that almost all part of the society are not all believe the involve of Antashari Azhar on this murdering case is only because of the love triangle.

If this is a conspiracy, the creator of this case is very smart, neat and full of perfect considerations, means he studied every single action and activity of the target to kill. A man will become a hard shield for his family, means if the part of the family (parents, son, daughter, and wife) feels badly threat, surely the family head will put his body in front to defend his family, means enemies will use these tricks to make their target surrender.

If Antashari Azhar then punished dead, at the same time the other doer do not get the same punishment, yes surely this is a high quality conspiracy which involves people who want to make revenge and fell threatened by the existence of KPK nowadays to the demolition of corruption.

It is true that a man will be very weak in front of woman, because a man can be success and dropped down because a woman. Playing with fire is exactly dangerous since the condition connects with pleasure, especially sex and women, this is the root of a problem.

This is an example of prove that anybody will always fall into the valley of insult, means when we get into the top position of an authority, we must also getting ourselves to our Mighty Creator. The tighter we keep a carcass inside a box, still then we can smell it.

The law then should be standing and act to born justice without considering whether the doer is a high positioned person, wealthy or everything else who can tackle the judiciary bravery to take on criminals to court. This will be a good achievement for the police department to examine this case which involves public authorities. The police department should be very careful and putting justice in front of everything since the authority especially in Indonesia was pointed very bad, full conspiracy, corruption, and also nepotism. This minded should be changed so that society will again lean on their trust to the institution.

Nasrudin, before was a success businessman. He is very talented in lobbying high positioned people of many institutions and it’s the main key of his great career. One of them, surely Antashari. Antashari picked Nasrudin as his closest friend, and always accompanied Antashari playing high quality golf field. Rumour says there are two things which became the reason why Nasrudin was killed. First, Nasrudin had the evidences that Antashari also involved at some cases followed by money politic. Then, Antashari planned to murder him. Second, Nasrudin was very angry knowing that Antashari did dishonest relation to his third wife, Rani, since Rani was working as Antashari’s caddy. And Nasrudin threatened Antashari to open Antashari’s scandal to the public.

Then what happened, Nasrudin while on his way to a certain place driven by his driver was then blocked by a car in front of his car so then his car should drive slowly. This condition then made two men with a motorcycle had a good range and a right target shooting Nasrudin with a hand gun, twice, right at Nasrudin’s left side head. He died right on his seat and the driver could not do anything because in the danger of being shot too. It is believed that the car which blocked Nasrudin’s car was driven by a same group of the shooter as a package. The case then improved and catches Antashari as a suspect, and some of his “right hands” connected to the killing who also includes the shooter.

Hopefully the present of Rani who has been waited by the society will explain everything, but all these will not 100% guarantee the real truth because there will be also negative forces which effect Rani’s existence. Rani now is protected by the police department, also her family because she is the fundamental item for the case.

A Conspiracy to make a hero to be zero?

A zero to be hero indicates a subject whether individual or group in former are people that fall down in a big mistake or maybe no one becoming into a person or group that suddenly become hero because of certain achievements. What about a sentence called “from hero to zero?”. Ironically this happens to their who makes big achievements and benefits to others but then becoming losers. Sometimes losers of blunders, things that are actually not that qualified or complicated but really have big negative effects of someone’s positive earns whether for himself, his community or also his nation.

A conspiracy generates the meaning of efforts to damage someone’s or group’s achievements, respect and dignity by doing over bordered regulation in a certain country. This involves a systemized and well organized corruption of truth and broken authorization, powered by high positioned people in certain level of governing. They reach all kind and a type of ways just to break down someone’s or group’s position.

Implying to the case of Antashari there are things that might be a realistic assumption to solid a saying that there is conspiracy during the case of Antashari.

First, is that the executors of Nasrudin, Director of PT Putra Rajawali Banjaran (PRB) on 14 Maret 2009 after golfing at Modernland Golf Yard Tangerang, are people that are considered well trained to murder Nasrudin. This is shown by the right precision of two bullets that hit Nasrudin’s head. This is a kind of neat and clean murder act that surely done by well trained people.

Second, this might be a conspiracy of making Antashari to stay away from the corruption practices that happened and done by people inside the government. As we know since KPK was borned, Antashari is the fighter of capturing corruptors all over Indonesia.

And don’t forget a businessman called Sigid Haryo Wibisono and former Resort Police Director Williardi Wizar. They are thought to be in the circle of Nasrudin murder. But how could a case that was issued started from a triangle love and then involved those people mentioned? Who knows?

And last why Antashari should spend about 500 million rupiahs to execute Nasruddin since there might be many paid killers that are more value-able or cheaper.

A consideration whether there is conspiracy flows quick and hardnot only touching the sleeping case of Antashari. It also reaches Bibit-Chandra and Susno Duadji. A legal letter of Surat Ketetapan Penghentian Penuntutan (SKPP), raised and stopped the identification of corruption that involved Bibit-Chandra, leaders of KPK. Medias highly speak that this stopping is correct since there are big holes and lies of truth. And the threat of jail for Bibit-Chandra is slowly decreased, especially when believed that law argumentation to jail them by Kapolri Jenderal Pol Bambang Hendarso Danuri is weak of law offence. What is a bit weird is that the case stopped when the identification had not been completed yet. The case was stopped luckily powered by the massive support of Indonesian society who believed they were not guilty. Funny how then Susno Duadji who surely reveal thet truth and evidences of corruption practices in the body of Police Department of Indonesia, then the case has not been stopped even also the big community of Indonesian people considered him of not guilty.

Susno but then accused back. Many believe this is a conspiracy of breaking the existence of Susno of blowing the bad sides of Indonesian Police Department. He is accused for internal ethic code breaking such as not attending the regular work day, attended the Antasari court and went abroad without legal permit. A man who is pointed to be a hero now goes to be “zero”.

From cases mentioned, was there conspiracy? Has been there conspiracy? Will this be revealed as conspiracy? The last statement is a bright door that we all have been waiting for to law enforcement. How could we all believe this country of powering the justice, if there are epidemic organized conspiracies inside? Covered by corruption, collusion, human rights killing, and discriminative law treatment, there is one, starts from now and surely starts from us as law students. We should have not be students that learn and practice and love law and can only make critics to how the nation governed, who then someday when we sit on some certain authorize law and power position, we forget what we learned when we were students, just because of money, existence, and the worst of all, include free irresponsibility of life.

Note

At dawn, two women rise after sleeping on mats outside an Indonesian hospital.
They've waited all night for a chance to see their newborn babies, whom the hospital is holding until the medical bills are paid in full.

"Holding babies until payment is common in Indonesia," said Robin Lim, a midwife who founded birthing clinics in Aceh and the island of Bali.

At this particular hospital in Bali, mothers who don't pay are allowed in twice a day to feed their baby and change their baby's diaper. Those fortunate enough to find the money may take their babies home. Others might relinquish their parental rights and place their babies up for adoption, Lim explained.

"You worry, 'Will I be able to deliver this baby safely into the world?' But you shouldn't have to worry, 'How will I pay for it?' " said Lim, 54.

"Mother Robin," or "Ibu Robin" as she is called by the locals, is working to change that with her Yayasan Bumi Sehat (Healthy Mother Earth Foundation) health clinics. These birthing sanctuaries offer free prenatal care, birthing services and medical aid to anyone who needs it.

And the needs are vast in Indonesia. The average family earns the equivalent of $8 a day, according to the International Monetary Fund, but a normal hospital delivery without complications costs around $70. A Caesarian section can cost more than $700.

Lim believes Indonesia's high maternal and infant mortality rates are caused in part by these costs, which many women cannot meet. In turn, their lives and the lives of their babies are at risk.

According to the United Nations Population Fund, three out of five women giving birth in South Asia do so without a skilled birth attendant on hand.

"The situation is bad ... babies are unattended, deliveries have become commercialized, and mothers die from hemorrhage after childbirth because they can't afford proper care," Lim said.

Working as a midwife in Indonesia was not something Lim, a U.S. citizen and author of many books related to infant and maternal health, planned for her life. But after several personal tragedies, her life shifted in a new direction.

"In the span of a year, I lost my best friend and one of the midwives who delivered my child," said Lim, who has eight children. "My sister also died as a complication of her third pregnancy, and so did her baby. I was crushed, just crushed.

"But I decided not to get angry. I decided to become part of the solution. If I could help even one family prevent the loss of a mother or a child, I would do that. I would dedicate my life to it."

Lim and her husband, Will, sold their home in Hawaii and moved the family to Bali to "reinvent their lives."

For Lim, there was no second-guessing the destination. Raised in the Philippines while her father was stationed in Indonesia with the U.S. military, she says she "always felt happiest in Asia."

Once in Bali, Lim volunteered to help local midwives deliver babies in various homes. And as the demand for her services grew, she decided to receive formal midwife certification.

In 2003, with help from the Balinese community and donations from friends across the globe, Lim and her husband opened the first Yayasan Bumi Sehat clinic. At the clinic, there are midwives, nurses, housekeepers, a doctor and a chef.

A short time later, after the massive tsunami in 2004, a smaller, sister location was built in Aceh to care for displaced survivors. Combined, the two clinics have facilitated the birth of more than 5,000 babies.

Some Indonesian celebrities and expatriates choose Bumi Sehat to birth their children, and they often give donations. But Lim says 80% of the families served by the clinics can barely pay anything.

"Rock star or prostitute, everyone gets treated (like a) VIP at Bumi Sehat ... with kindness and respect," she said. "It's something to see a family come year after year, every time their mango tree gives fruit, and give a few mangoes to the staff to say thank you.

"No one gets rich being a midwife. The riches that you experience are the deeper values."

Part of these riches, Lim said, is the knowledge that so many people rely on the clinics, two of the few 24-hour businesses in Aceh and Bali.

"Everyone knows us," she said. "For expecting couples who don't have a phone to call us for help or for a ride, it's common for them to hop on their motorcycles in the night to get to the clinic, where they know someone will be there waiting. And if they have a special request for me, I'll get a call, I'll get up and I'll go do the delivery."

The love and attention is appreciated by the new mothers, who don't have alternatives for safe, accessible care.

"I had my first born ... in a different clinic," said Gusti "Ayu" Ketut Gerti, a 31-year-old who came to Lim for the birth of her second child in February. "There's a big difference between that experience and (Bumi Sehat). Here, I feel comfortable. Robin is very kind, very motherly.

"I do not have money, and I tell my friends to also come here. I wish there were more people like her to lift up the suffering of the poor people."

Lim hopes that Gerti's experience can become the standard practice worldwide.

"Does the world have a responsibility to all pregnant women, to each new baby? Yes," Lim said. "Each baby, each adult deserves a clean, healthy, loving environment. ... Those things are basic. Those are a human right."

The Proclamation of Indonesian Independence

The Proclamation of Indonesian Independence (Indonesian: Proklamasi Kemerdekaan Indonesia, or simply Proklamasi) was read at 10.00 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 1945. The declaration marked the start of the diplomatic and armed-resistance of the Indonesian National Revolution, fighting against the forces of the Netherlands until the latter officially acknowledged Indonesia's independence in 1949. In 2005, the Netherlands declared that they had decided to accept 17 August 1945 as Indonesia's independence date.

Sukarno and Mohammad Hatta, who were appointed President and Vice-president, respectively, were the document's signatories.

Declaration event

Sukarno, accompanied by Mohammad Hatta (right), proclaiming the independence of Indonesia.

The draft was prepared only a few hours earlier, on the night of August 16, by Sukarno, Hatta, and Soebardjo, at Rear-Admiral Maeda (Minoru) Tadashi's house, Miyako-Doori 1, Jakarta (now the "Museum of the Declaration of Independence", JL. Imam Bonjol I, Jakarta). The original Indonesian Declaration of Independence was typed by Sayuti Melik. Maeda himself was sleeping in his room upstairs. He was agreeable to the idea of Indonesia's independence, and had lent his house for the drafting of the declaration. Marshal Terauchi, the highest-ranking Japanese leader in South East Asia and son of Prime Minister Terauchi Masatake, was however against Indonesia's independence, scheduled for August 24.

While the formal preparation of the declaration, and the official independence itself for that matter, had been carefully planned a few months earlier, the actual declaration date was brought forward almost inadvertently as a consequence of the Japanese unconditional surrender to the Allies on August 15 following the Nagasaki atomic bombing. The historic event was triggered by a plot, led by a few more radical youth activists such as Adam Malik and Chairul Saleh, that put pressure on Soekarno and Hatta to proclaim independence immediately. The declaration was to be signed by the 27 members of the Preparatory Committee for Indonesian Independence (PPKI) symbolically representing the new nation's diversity. The particular act was apparently inspired by a similar spirit of the United States Declaration of Independence. However, the idea was heavily turned down by the radical activists mentioned earlier, arguing that the committee was too closely associated with then soon to be defunct Japanese occupation rule, thus creating a potential credibility issue. Instead, the radical activists demanded that the signatures of six of them were to be put on the document. All parties involved in the historical moment finally agreed on a compromise solution which only included Soekarno and Mohammad Hatta as the co-signers 'in the name of the nation of Indonesia'

Soekarno had initially wanted the declaration to be read at Ikada Plain, the large open field in the centre of Jakarta, but due to unfounded widespread apprehension over the possibility of Japanese sabotage, the venue was changed to Soekarno's house at Pegangsaan Timur 56. In fact there was no concrete evidence for the growing suspicions, as the Japanese had already surrendered to the Allies, The declaration of independence passed without a hitch.

The proclamation at 56, Jalan Pegangsaan Timur, Jakarta, was heard throughout the country because the text was secretly broadcast by Indonesian radio personnel using the transmitters of the JAKARTA Hoso Kyoku radio station. An English translation of the proclamation was broadcasted overseas.

An English translation published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as of October 1948 included the entire speech as read by Sukarno. It incorporated remarks made immediately prior to and after the actual proclamation. George McTurnan Kahin, a historian on Indonesia, believed that they were omitted from publication in Indonesia either due to Japanese control of media outlets or fear of provoking a harsh Japanese response.

Leadership in Organization

Effective managers are not necessarily true leaders. Many administrators, supervisors, and even top executives execute their responsibilities successfully without being great leaders. But these positions afford opportunity for leadership. The ability to lead effectively, then, will set the excellent managers apart from the average ones.

Where as management must deal with the ongoing, day-to-day complexities of organizations, true leadership includes effectively orchestrating important change. While managing requires planning and budgeting routines, leading includes setting the direction (creating a vision) for the firm Management requires structuring the organization, staffing it with capable people, and monitoring activities; leadership goes beyond these functions by inspiring people to attain the vision. Great leaders keep people focused on moving the organization toward its ideal future, motivating them to over come whatever obstacles lie in the way.

Organizations succeed or fail not only because of how well they are led but also because of how well followers follow. Just as managers are not necessarily good leaders, people are not always good followers. The most effective followers are capable of independent thinking and at the same time are actively committed to organizational goals. As a manager, you will be asked to play the roles of both leader and follower. As you lead the people who report to you, you will report to your boss. You will be a member of some teams and committees, and you may chair others. Effective followers are

distinguished from ineffective ones by their enthusiasm and commitment to the organization and to a person or purpose other than themselves or their own interests. They master skills that are useful to their organizations, and they hold to performance standards that are higher than required. To be a good leader you must become a good follower first.
