Indonesian Hundred Thousand RupiahFrom 14 Asia Pacific countries surveyed, Indonesia is categorized as the most corrupted country followed by Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippine, Thailand and India. Indonesia scored 9.27 on this 0- 10 study whereby 0 means very clean and 10 means very corrupt. This score are significantly lower from last year which was 8.32.

This survey is conducted by PERC every year by questioning more than 2 thousand middle and upper management respondent from Asia, Australia and the US.

Meanwhile the Indonesian Government has just formalized its Medium term Development Plan for 2010-2014. In the plan the Government put a target for Indonesian corruption eradication of 5,0 according to Corruption Perception Index (CPI) by 2014. Indonesia is currently has a score of 2,8. CPI is a consolidation index by Transparency International based on surveys conducted by various organizations such as PERC worldwide.

The fall in PERC score, is expected to be followed other surveys that closely tied with the corruption eradication performance in Indonesia.

As a respond to this survey, Transparency International Indonesia urges the Indonesian government to take a stronger stance in improving the corruption eradication. TI-Indonesia listed some aspects that should be the Government top priority such as bureaucracy reform, legal certainty, justice system mafia, and the weakening of the Corruption Eradication Commission. In particular, the government should also carry out a comprehensive reform of the business licensing system.
